A 28-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg Monday after she surprised a burglar who broke into her Fircrest home.

The attack occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Estate Place.

“When she came home, there was a burglar in the house,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “She wrestled with him and got stabbed in the leg.”

The burglar took several items after stabbing the woman, Troyer said. Her roommate found her about 15 minutes later, and she was taken to Allenmore Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

The burglar was described as white, in his 30s, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and wearing blue jeans and a black jacket.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and charging of the suspect. Call 253-591-5959.
