The U.S. Census Bureau Friday released the latest set of figures comparing counties throughout the country.

The figures cover nearly every conceivable criterion, from general population to population-per-square-mile, and from income figures and retail trade to education, poverty and retirement levels.

Total Population: 6,724,540.

Pierce: 795,225.

Thurston: 252,264.

Population per square mile:

Statewide: 101.2.

Pierce: 476.3.

Garfield (lowest): 3.2.

Percentage of population foreign-born:

Statewide: 12.1.
