BergerABAM of Federal Way has promoted Ruba Zumut to vice president. She will continue to focus on growing the firm’s structural business with governmental agencies in her position. Zumut has 24 years of experience in structural analysis, design, and construction support of reinforced concrete, steel and wood structures with project experience including residential, commercial, correctional, institutional and military building facilities.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING
Soundview Consultants in Gig Harbor has added two team members to its staff. Kim Robinson joins the firm as a financial controller. She has more than 12 years of management experience. Edward Sheldon is an environmental field technician. He will manage remote environmental monitoring and compliance efforts.

Tim Morgan has joined Tacoma South Sound Sports as event development director. He will be responsible for recruiting new sports-related event business to Tacoma and South Sound region and working with key officials and decision makers of state, regional and national sports organizations. Morgan has a master’s degree from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University.
WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
SiteCrafting, Inc., of Tacoma has hired Bryan Reed as a web application developer. His responsibilities include site development as well as support for site design and maintenance and is a recent graduate from the Clover Park Technical College media design and production program.
AWARDS/RECOGNITION
Gene Grulich, director of historic preservation studio with BLRB Architects of Tacoma, was awarded the Alan C. Liddle Award for Historic Preservation in Tacoma by the Tacoma Historical Society. Before joining BLRB Architects, Grulich was the founder, owner and principal of GA+PS, an architectural firm focused on historic preservation and restoration projects. Grulich and BLRB are working on the historic rehabilitation of Washington-Hoyt Elementary School in North Tacoma and exterior refurbishments to the historic Tacoma Municipal Building.
John Walstrum, president of Clover Park Technical College, recently received the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from Phi Theta Kappa. College presidents and campus chief executive officers, nominated by their Phi Theta Kappa chapter, are selected for this award based on their outstanding support of Phi Theta Kappa.
Tom Layson has been named producer and host of Northwest Now, KBTC’s weekly public affairs program. He is the president of New Media Solutions in Puyallup. Layson also recently received a Bronze Telly Award for his work producing the “Patient Stories” series for Apple Physical Therapy. The national award to honor excellence in local, regional and cable TV commercials, received 11,000 entries from all 50 states with New Media Solutions, Layson’s firm, being selected from those entries.
