Tahoma Audubon Society is launching new day camp and residential camp options for youth in Pierce and Thurston counties.
Here is a look at some of the details:
Residential camps for middle and high schoolers: Beginning this summer, a brand new five-day residential OSPREY Camp will be held at Camp Schechter near Olympia Aug. 20-24. For ages 11-15. Transportation will be provided. This camp is focused on nature exploration activities including hiking, swimming, boating and a zipline. OSPREY stands for Opportunities for Students Promoting Respect for the Environment and Youth.
Day camps for elementary and middle schoolers: Beginning in July, a new nature day camp will be offered at Meridian Habitat Park in Puyallup, in partnership with Pierce County Parks and Recreation. For ages 6-11; Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Six weeks of nature-focused day camps with a theme each week.
Day camps for preschoolers and kindergarteners: Four weeks of Little Explorers day camps will be offered for 4- and 5-year-olds at the Adriana Hess Audubon Center in University Place. Each week a different theme will urge young ones to enjoy nature.
