Woman arrested after Lakewood school burglary

Lakewood police arrested a 27-year-old woman suspected of burglarizing an elementary school early Tuesday.

Officers were called to John Dower Elementary School, 7817 John Dower Road W., after the burglar alarm sounded just after 4:40 a.m. As police arrived, officers spotted a woman dressed in dark clothing running from the building. One officer detained her as others checked out the school and found a window had been removed, police reported.

A police dog tracked the intruder to where the woman was being held. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
