Wednesday’s highlights
Life Christian’s Shelby Fisher threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 14 Vashon batters to help the Eagles to a 12-0 win over the Pirates in the 1A Nisqually League. Kailey Beard provided the offense with a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning for the Eagles.
In the first game of a doubleheader, Morgan Maida pitched a five-inning no-hitter for Eatonville with six strikeouts in the Cruisers’ 1-0 victory over Fife. The Cruisers swept the Trojans with a 10-4 win when Kendra Trummert had a double and two RBI.
Brandon Boyd threw a shutout for Sumner with eight strikeout in a 2-0 win over North Kitsap. Chris Maez had an RBI sacrifice fly, and Tyler Holland added three runs and a stolen base for the Spartans.
Charles Wright’s Colin Reynolds hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth to help give the Tarriers a 8-6 victory over Overlake/Bear Creek at the class 1A Tri-District Playoffs. Alec Dennis picked up the win, and Brandon Hungate added two RBI for the Tarriers.
Brock Carpenter helped Fife earn a 6-1 win over Lindbergh with a complete-game, nine-strikeout pitching performance. Carpenter drove in two runs, and Andrew Waltner drove in one for the Trojans.
In SPSL boys soccer, Luke Munizza’s hat trick helped Emerald Ridge defeat Tahoma, 3-2, at Sparks Stadium. Bryan Anderson and Jordan Downing scored for the Bears.
White River’s Zak Morris scored a goal to help the Hornets to a 2-1 win over Evergreen in the 2A sub-district playoffs. The Hornets won on penalty kicks, 4-2.
Cole Madden scored two goals for Peninsula, and Jason Bauknecht had a shutout in the Seahawks’ 3-0 win over Auburn Mountainview in the 3A sub-district tournament. James Salisbury also scored a goal for the Seahawks.
