College Softball World Series opener pits PLU, Luther College

Pacific Lutheran, winner of the NCAA Division III regional tournament in Texas, will open against Luther College of Iowa in the first round of the College Softball World Series in Salem, Va.

Pacific Lutheran, winner of the NCAA Division III regional tournament in Texas, will open against Luther College of Iowa in the first round of the College Softball World Series in Salem, Va.

The Lutes (41-11) and the Norse (40-7) are scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. (PDT) game Friday at Moyer Stadium.

If PLU and defending national champion Linfield win their openers, the Northwest Conference rivals would meet in the semifinals of the championship bracket. Linfield is ranked No. 3; PLU No. 4, and the two schools are the highest-ranked schools still alive on the postseason.

This is Luther College’s third consecutive appearance in the College Softball World Series.
