Man stabbed during argument in Tacoma's Hulltop neighborhood

A 31-year-old man was stabbed and critically injured late Wednesday during an altercation at a Hilltop grocery store, Tacoma police said Thursday.

The man was listed in critical but stable condition at Tacoma General Hospital, police reported.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the Safeway store at 1112 S. M St. The victim and a second man, who knew each other, got into an argument and the victim was stabbed in the chest, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The attacker left and the victim drove himself to Tacoma General for treatment.

No arrest was reported; the investigation was continuing.
