Police are investigating the reported assault of a middle school-aged girl walking home from school Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred near Lybarger Street Southeast near Carlyon Street north of Olympia High School, according to Olympia police. The girl reported being molested; she wasn’t raped, Lt. Jim Costa said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He last was seen wearing a brown top and blue jeans with a backpack.

Police are working with the Olympia School District on the case. Police plan to interview the girl Thursday morning, Costa said.
