A 21-year-old Tacoma woman hit by a car Sunday as she walked on the Yelm Highway has died.
Jessica Richards died Tuesday at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, the Washington State Patrol reported Wednesday.
Richards was walking on the roadway of the highway just west of Meridian Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. when an eastbound car struck her. The 54-year-old driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.

A teenage bicyclist was treated and later released from Kadlec Regional Medical Center on Sunday after he was hit by a car on the bypass highway in Richland.
The Washington State Patrol said Brennon J. Hackett, 16, of Richland, was trying to cross the highway near Stevens Drive on Sunday afternoon on his BMX bicycle when he was hit by a car.
A hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released. The accident is still under investigation, said the WSP.
A 13-year-old girl was hurt when the car she was riding in collided with another car in Moses Lake, said the Washington State Patrol.
Ashley Solorzano of Warden was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake after a Volkswagon Jetta driven by Alice Pruneda, 20, of Moses Lake, hit the car she was in on Highway 17, according to WSP.
Ashley's condition was not immediately available Friday. No one else was hurt in the collision, according to WSP.
A 45-year-old Bremerton man was injured Monday night when he was struck by a car on northbound state Route 303 near Bremerton.
A 54-year-old Puyallup man died around noon Saturday when his car hit a tree and flipped.
