Two pedestrians – one in Olympia, the other in Lacey – were struck by cars between 4 and 5 p.m. Thursday.

In Olympia, a man in his 40s was struck by a white Buick before 5 p.m. as he ran across Pacific Avenue at Lansdale Road Southeast, near the Olympia Food Co-op. He was unconscious when medics arrived and was hospitalized, according to police at the scene.

Sgt. Jim Partin said the man’s injuries looked to be serious. The man’s glasses and umbrella lay in the road on Pacific as police interviewed witnesses. Partin didn’t know why the man was running across the street.

The crash is under investigation, Partin said.

In Lacey, one person was hospitalized after being struck in a Lacey parking lot at 3940 12th Ave. S.E. about 4:15 p.m. Lacey police could not be reached Thursday afternoon for details.
