Earthquakes rattle Galaxy on 2 late goals

Alan Gordon scored in stoppage time as the San Jose Earthquakes rallied from a late two-goal deficit to beat the Los Angeles Galaxy, 3-2 ,Wednesday night in Carson, Calif.

The Earthquakes (8-2-3) went into the 74th minute down 2-0, but Steven Lenhart scored off a corner kick, and Khari Stephenson converted a penalty kick to tie the score. Just seconds before time expired, Gordon finished a bouncing cross for the winning goal.

Hector Jimenez and Mike Magee scored for Los Angeles (3-7-2).

At Red Bulls 1, Chivas USA 1: Kenny Cooper scored in the 56th minute to lift New York to the draw with Chivas.

Former Red Bulls star Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 47th minute for Chivas USA (4-6-2). Angel, who holds New York’s career goal-scoring record (58), was playing against his former team for the first time.

Cooper’s goal was his 11th of the season – tying San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski for the MLS lead – for the Eastern Conference-leading Red Bulls (8-3-2).

At Fire 2, FC Dallas 1: Sebastian Grazzini and Marco Pappa scored, and goalkeeper Sean Johnson stopped a penalty kick as Chicago rallied past Dallas.

The Fire (5-3-3) won for the third time in five matches to remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Defender Matt Hedges scored in the 41st minute to put FC Dallas (3-7-4) on the board first.

ELSEWHERE

Reggie Lambe scored in the 83rd minute and Toronto FC won its fourth straight Canadian Championship, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps, 1-0, in Toronto. Toronto, 0-9 this season in MLS play, won the two-game, total-goal series 2-1. … Aritz Aduriz scored in the 41st minute, and Valencia of Spain’s La Liga defeated the Portland Timbers, 1-0, in an exhibition match in Portland.
