The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed two women Friday at gunpoint near Rochester, then drove away in a car belonging to one of the victims.
Deputies were called at 12:53 a.m. to the 10900 block of U.S. Highway 12 east of town, where two women had been bound with zip ties and robbed, Lt. Greg Elwin said. According to Elwin:
The women told police they answered a knock at the door around midnight by a masked white man about 6 feet, 5 inches and weighing about 250 pounds. He showed a gun, tied up the women, took their purses and left in one of their cars.
A 3-year-old girl asleep in her room was unharmed.
The car was found Friday morning off Apricot Street Southwest.
Detectives were able to retrieve minimal evidence from the car. It was turned in to the state crime lab.
“We have a couple of loose leads, but they are pretty thin,” Elwin said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 360-786-5500 or 360-704-2740. Callers also can leave anonymous tips with Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
