Striker Kris Boyd scored in the 67th minute for the Timbers (3-5-4), who were coming off a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire last Sunday that pulled them out of last place in the Western Conference.
The Whitecaps (5-3-4) remained a victory away from matching their win total from all of last season, when they finished last in the West.
At Toronto FC 1, Union 0: Toronto FC ended its MLS record nine-game losing streak with a win over Philadelphia (2-7-2) on a late goal by Danny Koevermans.
Toronto (1-9-0) entered the game off a win against the Vancouver Whitecaps that gave the club a fourth straight Voyageurs Cup as Canadian champion.
At D.C. United 3, Revolution 2: Substitute Maicon Santos scored the winning goal in the second half in Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United’s win over New England.
Dejan Jakovic and Brandon McDonald scored in the first half for United (8-4-3).
Saer Sene and A.J. Soares scored early in the second half for the Revolution (4-7-1).
At Crew 2, Fire 1: Eddie Gaven scored Columbus’ first goal and assisted on the second by Emilio Renteria.
Columbus (5-4-3) has won two straight and is 3-0-2 in its last five.
Berry got a measure of revenge when he headed in a service by Daniel Paladini in the 72nd minute for Chicago (5-4-3).
At Dynamo 2, Galaxy 1: Andre Hainault’s goal in the 57th minute gave Houston a victory over Los Angeles.
The Galaxy (3-8-2) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Edson Buddle in the 10th minute. Houston (4-3-4) tied it in the 38th minute on an own goal by L.A.’s Mike Magee.
At Rapids 3, Impact 2: Jamie Castrillon scored in the 83rd minute, leading Colorado to a win over Montreal.
Drew Moor and Jeff Larentowicz added first half goals for Colorado (6-6-1).
Patrice Bernier added a goal and Andrew Wenger scored for Montreal (3-7-3).
At Real Salt Lake 3, FC Dallas 2: Alvaro Saborio scored a pair of goals in the second half and Nat Borchers came up with the winner in stoppage time to lift Real Salt Lake to a victory over FC Dallas.
The win helped Salt Lake (9-3-2) extend its unbeaten streak to six games. FC Dallas (3-8-4) is winless in nine games and has not prevailed in Utah since 2007.
