Nightclub management firm N9NE (NINE) Group issued a statement Monday confirming the permanent closure.
Company spokeswoman Ashli Kimenker says there has been no announcement yet about other plans for the space at the high-rise casino west of the Strip. The casino and Playboy Enterprises said in March that the closure was amicable, and that the parties planned to “pursue new brand opportunities in Las Vegas nightlife.”
In Mexico’s messy casino industry, survival isn’t easy. The nation’s gaming laws are masterpieces of ambiguity, rivals use dubious legal tactics to undercut foes and chicanery is a practiced art.
For the newcomer, $150 million to $200 million in renovations is not necessary. The Emerald Queen Casino on Portland Avenue announced earlier this week that it will start an expensive project this summer to create a 2,500-car parking garage and to revamp the gambling area. Several restaurants will also be added.
Congressman Doc Hastings, R-Pasco, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources, will be the keynote speaker at the 25th Annual Conference of the Family Farm Alliance on Feb. 22.
The annual meeting and conference is Feb. 21-22 at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
