Tracking local golfers on the PGA Tour

This week: FedEx St. Jude Classic, today through Sunday, TPC Southwind, Memphis, Tenn.

In the field: Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley and Tacoma’s Troy Kelly.

World rankings: Stanley is 56th, and Kelly is 432nd.

2012 earnings: Stanley has $2.01 million (16th on the PGA Tour), and Kelly has $68,350 (196th on the tour list).

Last tournament: Yes, it is an extended speed bump: Stanley is in the middle of a career-worst slump of four consecutive missed cuts, including last week at the Memorial (5-over-par 149) in Dublin, Ohio. And he is trying to play his way through it, too, heading into next week’s U.S. Open. This will be his first appearance at the St. Jude Classic. … Kelly, too, has hit a rough patch – missing the cut in six of his past nine tournaments, including the HP Byron Nelson Championship (7-over 147) last month. At 72.42 strokes, his scoring average per round is better than the last time he was on the PGA Tour in 2009 (73.33).

Tee times today: Stanley at 10:36 a.m. (PDT) off the first tee, and Kelly at 11:48 a.m. off the 10th tee.
