A Montesano man wanted on suspicion of killing his girlfriend was captured at a home in Wapato in Yakima County on Wednesday afternoon.
The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s officers had been searching for Eugene Elkins Jr., a man they think killed a 58-year-old Montesano-area woman Wednesday morning.
Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott said deputies responded to a mobile home park on Clemmons Road off Highway 12 about three miles west of Montesano just after 8 a.m. after a woman found her 58-year-old friend dead.
Scott said the victim’s 56-year-old boyfriend, Elkins, was at the house when the friend arrived. He then left.
“We believe this stemmed from a domestic violence assault,” Scott said. “There were obvious signs on the victim of a physical assault.”
Scott said they had not responded to a call at the home before.
The victim’s name has not been released.
“We are not aware of any next of kin, so we are trying to figure that out,” Scott said.
