Man found on SR 410 in Sumner had stabbed himself

A man found Tuesday night on the side of state Route 410 in Sumner had stabbed himself in the abdomen, police said Wednesday.

Officers responded about 10:30 p.m. to the eastbound lanes between Traffic and Valley avenue exits and found a man in his 20s suffering from a laceration to his stomach.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue firefighters initially reported he had been stabbed and tossed on the road. It later was determined that the wound was self-inflicted.

He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment.
