KING COUNTY: Cop’s window broken by ‘staged’ rock
Last updated: June 9th, 2012 12:21 AM (PDT)

King County sheriff’s investigators were searching on Friday for whoever threw a large rock at a patrol car Thursday night near Kent, smashing the windshield and startling the deputy behind the wheel.

The deputy was driving in the 13800 block of Southeast 272nd Street about 10:20 p.m. when the rock hit the hood of the patrol car, then smashed through the driver’s side of the windshield. Shattered glass sprayed the deputy, who was not hurt.

Deputies found other rocks that appeared to have been “staged” on the side of the road to throw.

No suspects were seen.

Kent police said a civilian driver had a similar experience. The victim saw three teens run from the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311 or the Kent Police Department at 253-852-2121.
