Metro Parks Tacoma’s growing schedule of fun runs is registering runners and walkers for its two summer events and its seven remaining 2012 races.

Day-of-race registration is not accepted for these events. Another reason for registering early: Some events have a capped number of participants.

The Parks department’s race schedule includes the Run to the Top on July 14 at McKinley Park, the Goldfish Gallop at Point Defiance Park on Aug. 11 and the Harmon Tap Room Hustle on Sept. 15 at Wright Park. The races are for runners 21 and older.

Races for all ages include the Black Cat Fun Run on Oct. 27 at Point Defiance Park, the Norpoint Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, the Jingle Bell Run at Wright Park on Christmas Eve and the Dec. 31 Last Mile at First Night in Tacoma.

The races range in distance from 1-5 miles and in cost from $5-25.

For more information and to register, visit metroparks tacoma.org/races.
