Todd Beamer’s ‘Firefly’ No. 1 at science fair

A five-student team from Todd Beamer High School recently took first place in the technology category at the Imagine Tomorrow regional science fair. Team members earned $1,000 each and $5,000 for the school.

The four-state science fair competition, which challenges ninth- through 12th-graders to seek new ways to support the transition to alternate energy sources, was held at Washington State University. Students researched complex topics and created technologies, designs or plans to mobilize behavior.

The Beamer team project, named Firefly, was put together by Kenneth Luu, Suhyun Bae, Paul Kalebu, Ki Han and Eugene Lee.
