2 banks robbed in Tacoma; man arrested

Tacoma police on Monday were investigating two bank robberies five minutes apart on Sixth Avenue.

Officers arrested one man on suspicion he robbed both banks, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The first heist was reported at 1:26 p.m. A man walked into Chase Bank, 6616 Sixth Ave., and implied he had a weapon. He got an undisclosed amount of cash and left.

Five minutes later, a robbery was reported at Bank of America at 6510 Sixth Ave.

The suspect was seen walking on Sixth Avenue, and officers took him into custody, Fulghum said.
