A man was wounded Tuesday after a shooting in a home in the South Prairie area of east Pierce County.

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives were called to the home in the 22700 block of 131st Street Court East.

“The preliminary information is that it may have been an accident,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “We do not believe we have a shooter out there. This is all contained amongst the people we are talking to and the victim.”

The shooting was reported about 12:20 p.m. The man was taken to a Tacoma hospital for surgery, Troyer said.
