Lakewood police on Wednesday were searching for a 19-year-old man charged with stabbing another man June 1 at an apartment complex.

Miguel Valdivia-Cabrera was charged with first-degree assault and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police and Pierce County prosecutors allege Valdivia-Cabrera assaulted a 25-year-old man in an apartment in the 8800 block of John Dower Road Southwest. The victim was stabbed several times and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The man later told detectives Valdivia-Cabrera was a roommate and was using some type of drug at the time, police said. He said he didn’t know why he was stabbed.

Anyone with information about Valdivia-Cabrera’s whereabouts is asked to call the police tips line at 253-830-5064 or Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959.
