Naturalists from Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will lead a low-tide beach walk, where kids and adults can learn to identify tide pool animals. Participants also will be able to record their presence and location on the scientific NatureMapping database at naturemappingfoundation.org. Participants will learn about the biological diversity of local beaches and better understand how to protect them.
The next walk will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday as the low tide approaches minus 1.8 feet. The event is free.
Participants will get a brief introduction to the day before the walk begins. The walks last about two hours, though people might want to explore the beach for a longer time. Walks are intended for ages 5 and older.
