Woman arrested in man’s shooting in South Prairie

A woman has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s shooting of a man in the South Prairie area of East Pierce County.

The News Tribune is not naming the woman because she has not been charged with a crime. She is being held in the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The man was critically wounded Tuesday in a home in the 22700 block of 131st Street Court East. He is expected to survive.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said Thursday the two are acquaintances, but detectives still were trying to sort out exactly what happened.

“She was holding a gun and he was holding a Taser,” Troyer said. “He used or attempted to use the Taser and the gun went off. The exact order of things is still unknown.”
