Sunday is Father’s Day in the United States – and thanks to the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Retail Federation, here’s a look at the day by the numbers:
$11.1 billion: Amount to be spent overall on Father’s Day this year.
$106.49: The amount, on average, that Americans will spend on their dads.
$2.1 billion: Will be spent on outings – such as golf, brunch, or a visit to the movies.
70.1 million: Fathers in America.
24.7 million: Fathers who are part of a married-couple family with children younger than 18.
21 percent: Percentage of those fathers who are raising three or more children.
1.7 million: Number of single fathers in 2011.
17 percent: Percentage of preschoolers regularly cared for by their fathers during mother’s working hours.
