An estranged husband and wife are dead after police say they got into an argument that ended in gunfire at a residence north of Lacey. Police believe the husband shot the wife, then himself.

The family of the 39-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, both from the Olympia area, found them dead with gunshot wounds to the head Saturday afternoon, according to Thurston County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Ray Brady.

“Preliminary indications show it appears to be a murder suicide,” Brady said.

Police were called to the property in the 8000 block of Kerbaugh Road N.E. at 5:15 p.m. after the couple was found. Brady said the woman had come to drop off the couple’s children to stay with their father over the weekend.

The children went to their grandparents’ house, located on the same property as their father’s, while the couple began arguing.

No other injuries were reported. Brady said to his knowledge, police had not been called to the address before.
