Body found in Green River believed to be missing Kent woman

Searchers on the Green River in southeast King County have found a body believed to be a 22-year-old Kent woman who fell into the water while hiking.

KOMO-TV reports that family members identified the young woman Friday. They say she was hiking Thursday evening in the Green River Gorge area with her brother, cousin and two co-workers when she fell into the fast-flowing river. A young man identified as her cousin tried to save her but she was swept away.

Sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West has said the young man who tried to save the woman was found and rescued from a river bank. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of mild hypothermia.

KOMO says family members report the young woman moved to Kent from the Philippines about a year ago and was working on getting her nursing certificate.
