Latimers Landing park set to reopen after work

Improvements to the parking facilities at Latimers Landing Day Use Park near Shelton are nearly complete and the park should open soon. John Keats, Mason County director of parks, trails and facilities, said the work included expanding the parking lot next to the Harstine Island Bridge.

The park is on Pickering Passage.

In 2011, the county received a $400,000 boating facilities grant from the state Recreation and Conservation Office. The county also contributed $140,900 in cash, labor and donated equipment. The work began in February.
