Tacoma Power’s “TREE-mendous” power safety program recently invited local students to submit works about the importance of trees and power lines. The winners were: Russell Stensrud, Browns Point Elementary, first place for artwork; and Sapphire Curtis, Rocky Ridge Elementary, first place for story.
Tacoma Water’s annual fifth-grade haiku competition about the importance of water, received submissions from 213 local students. The winners were: Serenedy Stewart, Lister Elementary, first place; Will Wright, Browns Point Elementary, second place; and Patrick Kim and Jaylen Green, Drum Intermediate, tied for third place.
