Last updated: June 20th, 2012 06:36 AM (PDT)

Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor has been elected to serve on the board of a national law enforcement group that provides training and education to its membership.

He will serve a two-year term on the National Executive Institute Associates, a nonprofit group consisting of law enforcement officers who have completed the FBI’s three-week executive training program.

There are about 1,150 members, according to the foundation’s website.

Pastor said in a statement he is honored to serve on the board.

“This gives me and gives the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department an opportunity to work beside much larger agencies to impact the future of American law enforcement over the coming years,” he said.
