100 YEARS AGO TODAY: JUNE 23, 1912
In the “Conquest of Mexico,” the spectacular feature which will be given at the Stadium on the nights of July 1 and 2, trained actors, scenic artists and fireworks builders combine to produce what is said to be the biggest pyrotechnic display ever attempted in the Northwest.
75 YEARS AGO TODAY: JUNE 23, 1937
A new record for tourist travel to Mount Tacoma is seen by Paul H. Sceva, manager of the Rainier Park Co., as the first tour parties are arriving and all of the facilities of Paradise and Sunrise are thrown open. The first tour party of the season arrived last week and three more are scheduled for this week.
50 YEARS AGO TODAY: JUNE 23, 1962
The Sunday Night News, a live roundup of weekend news, premieres on Channel 11, KTNT-TV at 10 p.m. tomorrow. KTNT-TV manager Max Bice said the program is “especially designed for those viewers who want to get a complete recap of the weekend news, but early enough to get a good night’s sleep.” The program will be the earliest of the Sunday night live news programs over Puget Sound stations.
