Man arrested in transient camp stabbing near west Olympia

Olympia police arrested a stabbing suspect about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of Capital Mall Drive Southwest.

According to a news release:

Police received 9-1-1 reports of screaming just north of the location and learned that two residents of a transient encampment had fought. The victim, 30, had been stabbed multiple times and walked to Capital Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  

The 34-year-old suspect received treatment for minor injuries at Capital Medical Center. He was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. The Olympian is not naming him because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.
