BIG PRICE DROP: A plunge in the cost of gas drove down a measure of U.S. consumer prices last month by the most since December 2008. The consumer price index fell 0.4 percent in April from March.

The higher home price and sales momentum that showed up toward the end of last year in Pierce County continued into January as both prices and sales rose sharply, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service data released Tuesday.
Pierce County’s streak of improved home sales and higher median prices continued in March, with both sales and prices rising again, likely cementing the view that the slower housing market finally is behind us, according to new Northwest Multiple Listing Service data released Thursday.
Gas prices in the South Sound continued inching lower this week hitting an average of $3.311 a gallon, the lowest prices since February 2011.
