Brent Langberg was recently named vice president and commercial lending officer at the Kent branch of Valley Bank. He is transferring from the Puyallup main office.

He will be responsible for managing the bank’s full range of commercial lending services at the Kent office. Langberg has a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University.

LEGAL

Harlowe & Falk of Tacoma, has recently added Heather Straub to the firm as a partner. She will focus primarily on civil litigation, including business law, commercial litigation, construction law, nonprofit law and real estate law. Straub received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her juris doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law. She has been a litigation attorney in the Seattle/Tacoma area for more than seven years.

Cindy Stewart has joined Windermere Professional Partners in University Place as a Realtor. Previously she ran a team at L’Oreal.

RECYCLING

Discover Books in Tacoma has appointed Michael Ricci as its chief executive officer. The company formerly know as Thrift Recycling Management, brought Ricci on to help with the rebranding effort by the company to clarify its mission. He has a degree from Stanford University and has held executive positions at Intel, Optichron and Ikanos Communications Inc.

AWARDS/RECOGNITION

Andrea Mensink, business development manager for the Tacoma Regional Convention & Visitor Bureau, recently was recognized by the Destination Marketing Association International as one of 30 emerging leaders of the destination marketing industry in its 30 Under 30 program. Thirty industry rising stars from across the nation were selected to participate in the 30 Under 30 program, developed to identify and foster the talent of destination marketing organization (DMO) professionals through increased access to top-level networking and professional development.

Marj Hanaway, real estate broker with Coldwell Banker Bain in Puyallup, was recently recognized with the Coldwell Banker International Sterling Award. It is awarded to the top 12 percent of all real estate brokers worldwide with Coldwell Banker.

Laurie Brown, the chief nursing officer for the Franciscan Health System, recently received the 2012 Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Washington-Tacoma School of Nursing. Since 2005, she has served as clinical faculty for the school’s Nursing and Health Care Leadership program and is a frequent guest lecturer. The award honors graduates of the UW-Tacoma School of Nursing who have had an inspirational effect on students and the community, and have made significant contributions to their profession and community service.
