Colette Pierce Burnette has been chosen as interim president of Pierce College Puyallup.
Pierce College District Chancellor Michele Johnson made the announcement Tuesday.
Pierce Burnette currently serves as the vice president for admin-istration and finance and chief financial officer of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
She is returning to Pierce College, where she worked in 1997 as a faculty member in the computer information systems program, and was appointed dean of institutional technology. She left Pierce at the end of 1998, when her husband accepted a job out of state. She has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Ohio State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia College.
She will assume the interim presidency at Pierce College Puyallup on July 1.
Pierce Burnette replaces Patrick Schmitt, who served as college president since July 2010 and who left to take a job as chancellor for a California community college.
Johnson will conduct a national search for a permanent president this year.
