100 YEARS AGO TODAY: JUNE 27, 1912
Puget Sound steamboat companies are preparing a storm of protest as a result of a new U.S. regulation, compelling Sound steamers to carry enough lifeboats and life rafts for all on board, during seven months of the year. The steamship men say that this is not only impracticable but impossible. The enforcement of this regulation would be confiscatory to at least 90 percent of the steamboat owners on Puget Sound, they say.
75 YEARS AGO TODAY: JUNE 27, 1937
One of a number of big jobs recently completed by the Ace Furnace and Steel company of Tacoma is the fine new gasoline tank. It was built for E. L. Clarke, Gilmore distributor in Yakima. This new delivery unit is considered one of the most efficient in construction features new in operation.
