Children’s Museum of Tacoma, in its new location, hosts a variety of interactive exhibits, play programs, weekly education events and more. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays, 1501 Pacific Ave., Tacoma. Pay-as-you-will admission. 253-627-6031, childrensmuseumoftacoma.org.

The always-free Karpeles Manuscript Museum, currently has two exhibits: “Spiritualism” includes manuscripts from Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes, and manuscripts from Harry Houdini; “World War II” includes a Japanese flag captured at the Battle of Okinawa and the navigator’s flight log of the Enola Gay at the time of its dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.  • Enjoy the sounds of local musicians and bands at the Battle of the Bands: Battle In The Orchard free concert tonight from 6:30-8:30. Sponsored by CORE, it’s at the Curran Apple Orchard Park, 3920 Grandview Drive W., University Place. battleintheorchard.com.
