A teenager, his older sister and another woman were arrested Wednesday after they allegedly attempted to rob a South Hill espresso stand then made their getaway in a car with two babies strapped in the backseat, sheriff’s deputies reported.
It was 1:25 a.m. when a car with two women and two infants pulled up to the drive-through of the BigFoot Java at the corner of South Meridian and 123rd Street Court East. One of the women ordered a drink.
“As the barista was making the drink and opening the window, an armed juvenile came up, produced a handgun and demanded money,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Jerry Bates said.
The barista slammed the window shut and called 911.
Deputies found the vehicle four blocks away with the alleged gunman in the car, Bates said.
Arrested were a 17-year-old boy and two women, ages 21 and 28. The two 1-year-olds were turned over to a family member.
