Metro Parks Tacoma is offering two low-tide programs, giving beach visitors the chance to learn about sea creatures living in Puget Sound.

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium’s Explore the Shore program is set for Monday at 9 a.m. at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park. The low tide will reach -3.2 feet that morning.

The Tacoma Nature Center’s Tiptoe through the Tidepools event will be Tuesday at Titlow Beach, 8425 Sixth Ave. The event will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. when the low tide reaches -3.5 feet.

The events are free and reservations are not required. Bring sunscreen, and wear shoes and clothing appropriate for walking on rough beach terrain.
