Last updated: June 30th, 2012 01:08 PM (PDT)

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad Friday deactivated a pipe bomb found in the trunk of a vehicle parked at a wrecking yard in Graham.

Deputies responded to the 21400 block of state Route 161 after wrecking-yard employees found the suspected bomb about 4 p.m. Thursday.

The explosive had a fuse and was made with steel pipe, sheriff’s detective Sgt. Jerry Bates said.

Officials were working to determine where it came from.
