Amtrak train strikes, kills man in Puyallup

A man was killed Monday night in Puyallup after an Amtrak passenger train struck him.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. at Inter and East Main avenues.

Amtrak Cascades train No. 516 was traveling from Portland to Bellingham when it hit somebody on the tracks, spokesman Steve Kulm said.

None of the 253 passengers or crew members aboard was injured. The train was delayed 80 minutes.

No information was immediately available on the pedestrian who died.
