A man was stabbed to death in Auburn about midnight Monday as he tried to break up a fight between a man and a woman, Auburn police said Tuesday.

The man and the woman were arguing inside a house near Sixth and K streets Southeast, police said. The fight became physical and was taken to the front yard.

A neighbor from across the street came to break up the fight and was stabbed by another man who was with the couple, police said. The neighbor collapsed in the street and died.

Officers later arrested a suspect, who initially got into a car and drove off with others.
