A man killed Monday night after being hit by an Amtrak train is believed to have committed suicide, Puyallup police said Tuesday.

A man killed Monday night after being hit by an Amtrak train is believed to have committed suicide, Puyallup police said Tuesday.

The train, carrying 253 passengers from Portland to Bellingham, hit the man about 5:55 p.m. on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks near the Shaw Road overpass.

The News Tribune is not naming the man.
