Facebook, Yahoo settle patent dispute

Facebook and Yahoo have agreed to settle a patent dispute and avert a potentially bitter battle over the technology running two of the Internet’s most popular destinations, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The deal involves no exchange of money and resolves the dueling lawsuits that the companies filed against each other, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement hadn’t yet been announced.

AllThingsD, a technology blog affiliated with The Wall Street Journal, reported the deal Friday.
