Man arrested in connection with girlfriend’s homicide in Federal Way

A man was arrested after his girlfriend was found dead in a Federal Way home Friday evening, according to the Federal Way Police Department.

The woman has been identified as Melinda O’Meara, 20.

Police said a 29-year-old man entered his neighbor’s home in a trailer park on 288th Street about 11:15 p.m. and said that he had stabbed and killed his girlfriend. The neighbor called 911, saw a security car patrolling the area, and flagged down the officer, according to police.

When officers were on their way, the security officer detained the man.

According to police, the security officer went into the man’s home and found a woman dead on the floor.

When officers arrived at the scene, they arrested the man for investigation of homicide.

Police said records show previous contacts with the man, but there were no reports of domestic violence between the two.
