A Kent man was critically injured Sunday afternoon after being shot during an argument.

Police responded about 1 p.m. to the 22400 block of Benson Road S.E., where officers administered first aid to the victim, who had been shot several times in the lower torso.

The suspect, a 26-year-old man who knows the victim, had not been located. He fled on foot after the shooting, which police said was not gang-related.

Officers were interviewing witnesses, and a motive for the fight had not been determined.

Although police said they know who the shooter is, The News Tribune does not name suspects unless they’ve been charged with a crime. The shooter is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and a gray hooded sweatshirt. He was armed with a handgun.

Anyone with information on the shooter or his whereabouts is asked to call the Kent Police Department at 253-856-5808.
