A 911 hang-up call drew police to a Federal Way home around 2 a.m. Sunday, and upon arriving they heard a woman screaming inside.

According to Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, as police attempted to make contact with the woman, she ran out of the house in the 3900 block of Southwest 328th Place and told officers that her husband was inside with their four children.

She said he was armed with a knife. The four children were able to safely exit the home, Schrock said.

The Valley SWAT team eventually got to the suspect. He had two self-inflicted knife wounds to the torso, Schrock said.

The 40-year-old suspect was taken into custody without resistance and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

According to police, the woman sustained minor injuries. None of the children were injured.

Police are investigating the incident.
