Make it a day discovering the local museums open today.

 • The new LeMay-America’s Car Museum is open and features a 9-acre campus with a four-story museum as the centerpiece. Designed to preserve history and celebrate the world’s automotive culture, the museum houses up to 350 cars, trucks and motorcycles from private owners, corporations and the LeMay collection. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Labor Day. Admission: $14 adult, $12 senior (age 65)/student/military, $8 ages 5-12, free for kids younger than 5.

 • The Museum of Glass features visiting artists and an active hot shop where you can experience the art of blown glass. The exhibit “Made at the Museum: The Visiting Artist Collection” features a rotating selection of finished vessels and sculptures created by visiting artists during their residencies in the hot shop. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, noon-5 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. third Thursdays, 1801 Dock St., Tacoma; $5-$12; 866-468-7386.
